These little beauties have a range of colours from a bright green with yellow to a more muted teal colour with white. One theory on how they get their their particular colour, is that it depends on what kind of UVB light they receive. The lizards that have natural sunlight turn out more bright green, while the alligator lizards under artificial light produce a more teal colour.
Sadly, the Mexican Alligator Lizard is now endangered. One of the main reasons for this is illegal pet trade.
